The first step is to set the equation equal to zero, and see if it factors.
IF THE EQUATION CANNOT BE FACTORED, then you will need to use the "Completing the Square Method" or the "Quadratic Formula." See my OTHER Lesson Plan.
IF IT DOES FACTOR, then this is the Lesson Plan you need to see. If it factors, then factor completely, and set each factor equal to zero, forming two "mini-equations". Solve each the mini-equations. Please CLICK on the following link:
