Question 17500: my equation is (-2\x)5th power (sorry, i can't find the "hat" symbol to use.
I'm shown by my answer key that the answer is -32 over x 5th power. i can get the -32 but i can't figure out why it's -32 over x to the 5th power. I would appreciate any help. Answer by askmemath(368) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! We start off with (-2/X) .
This we raise to the Fifth power.
(-2/X)^5 .Taking the 5 inside the bracket we get ((-2)^5/X^5)since both numerator and denominator have to be raised to the power. So we finally get (-32/X^5)
Raising to any power essentially means multiplying that number by itself that many times. In this case (-2/X) x (-2/X)x(-2/X) x (-2/X) x (-2/X) From this you can see that we get (-32/X^5)
