Any non-zero number raised to the zero power is 1. So x^0=1, y^0=1, (3x)^0 =1, (Junk)^0 = 1.

However, in the case of 3x^0 where there are no parentheses, ONLY the x is raised to the zero power. So what you have is 3 times x^0, which is 3* 1=3.

So, in answer to your question:
