Question 813918: if f(x)=x^3+3x^2-x+6
a) h(x) which has the same graph as f(x) moved three units down
b) m(x) which has the same graph as f(x) moved two units to the right and one unit up Found 2 solutions by josgarithmetic, ewatrrr:Answer by josgarithmetic(39623) (Show Source):
To move the graph 2 units to the RIGHT, you would do this to x:
(x-2);
that much of the change would be and you would need to simplify. The proper usage or 'grammar' for this might mean changing the name of the function, or may mean to change what is shown in the argument of f; not sure.
The change vertically is simpler. Move n units up, then increase the ENTIRE expression by n units; move n units down, then decrease the ENTIRE expression by n units.
Hi,
f(x)= x^3+3x^2-x+6 Green
a) h(x)= x^3+3x^2-x+3 |f(x) moved three units down Blue
b) m(x)= (x-2)^3+3(x-2)^2-(x-2)+7 |f(x) moved 2 units to the right and 1 unit up
