With this Square root of x +56=x square both sides to get:
x +56=x^2
Get it all on one side of the equal sign:
x^2-x-56=0
Factor:
(x-8)(x+7)=0
Solve for x:
x=8
x=-7
Check to see if both answers work.

I presume you mean

(next time use parentheses so that your function arguments are unambiguous, in this example: sqrt(x + 56) = x makes it clear what you meant)

Solve the factorable quadratic, but this will yield one valid and one extraneous root. Check both solutions in the original equation and discard any roots that yield a false statement.
