Note in the last step "4 less than..." means the 4 is being subtracted from the rest of the expression.

I agree with the step by step building process tutor greenestamps has laid out. I also agree with the final answer as well.

If it said "4 is less than ..." then it would be 4+%3C+2q%5E2

But the lack of that "is" will mean we instead go with 2q%5E2-4

In my opinion, perhaps it should read "4 fewer than twice the square of a number q" to avoid potential confusion.
