Question 1203248: Having trouble figuring out how this answer was arrived at:
7x+2y=5
2y=-7x+5
y=-7/2x+5/2
I understand up to this point
y-(-4)=-7/2(x-5) This is where I am confused. where did the -4 and -5 come from?
y-(-4)=-7/2x+35/2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Apparently you are showing us the work to be done to solve the problem.

But seeing only that, we have no idea what the problem is that you are working on; and so we have no idea where the "-4" and "-5" came from.

Re-post, telling us what the problem you are working on is....

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
--------------
7x+2y=5
2y=-7x+5
--------------

You show an an equation which you want in some other form, a linear equation.
Not a system. Just a single equation.

7x%2B2y=5
2y=-7x%2B5
%281%2F2%29%282y%29=%281%2F2%29%28-7x%2B5%29
y=-7x%2F2%2B5%2F2

How you ask about -4 or -5, you did not say. You tell!
The -4 and th -5 came from nowhere for no reason.
