Question 1174740: Please help me solve this, thank you!
A random sample of 20 cans of milk showed an average weight of
198.5 grams with a standard deviation of 15 grams. Is this in line with
the manufacturer’s claim of an average weight of 200 grams, using a
0.05 level of significance?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi

Sample:  n = 20 , mean = 198.5,  sd = 15

Ho: u =  200 (claim)
Ha: u < 200
------------------

 t(198.5) = (198.5 -200)/[15/sqrt(20)] = -.4472
 p=value = P( t< -.4472 when df = 19) = .33

Since the p-value is greater than 5%, fail to reject Ho.
Conclusion: The claim is reasonable at the 5% confidence level.
