-4.2 is NOT a natural number since it isn't a counting number (ie a positive whole number)
-4.2 is NOT an integer

-4.2 = -(4+0.2) = -(4+2/10) = -(40/10 + 2/10) = -42/10 = -21/5
-4.2 = -21/5
This shows that -4.2 is a rational number. Since it is rational, it is NOT irrational.
