Question 667851: This question is calculating gross pay
The hours worked has to be over 40.
The method I chose was number 2( though I would like to know how to do the work using both methods.
Method 1:(total regular hours X hourly rate) + (overtime hours X overtime rate)=gross pay
Method 2: (total number of hours worked X the hourly rate) + (hours over 40 X 0.5 the hourly rate)
So my my information is:
Hourly Rate: $15hr.
Hours Worked: 45hrs
Formula : (45 X 15) + (15 X (15 x 0.5))
But I was told that my over time pay looks wrong, can someone help me please? Found 3 solutions by ReadingBoosters, lynnlo, MathTherapy:Answer by ReadingBoosters(3246) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Formuls should be
Essentially
45 X 15 + 5 X (.05 X 15) or
45(15) + 5(.05(15))
...
Method 1
40 X 15 + 5 X (15 + (.05 X 15)) or
40(15) + 5(15+(.05(15)))
.....................

Method 1
Method 2
Both will give you gross pay of $712.50.
The parentheses are irrelevant, but I chose to put them anyway.
