Question 2345: I need to figure out the basis of a percentage amount. Example:
394,019.13 x 4% = 15,760.76 What do I need to do to do it the opposite way.
As in, if I start out with the 15,760.76 what do I need to do to get to the basis which is 394,019.13?
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In the example, you know the percentage(here it is 4%) and the amount/number (here in this case, 394,019.13) but don't know the percentage amount. Then what
you do is as below:-
*394,019.13 i.e.
= 15,760.76(rounded off)
In the same way, if we are given the percentage amount and percentage, we have to do it as below taking the above example.
*15,760.76 i.e
= 394,019.00
So write the percentage & 100 upside down as the case may be to get the correct answer. Here, there is a difference of 0.13 in the number/amount just because you have rounded off the percentage amount. Still if you want the correct amount, you have to use the log and antilog tables. I don't know in which standard/class/grade you are in. O.K.
