You can put this solution on YOUR website!
there is a hierarchy (order) of operations ___ does PEMDAS ring a bell?

Parentheses Exponentiation Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction

in this case, division occurs before addition
___ (-8) / 4 = -2
___ 7 + (-2) = 5

you can use the fraction line (forward slash) to show division
