Question 132410
Hello! What you have here is called a fractional equation. The first thing you should do is clear the fractions by, as you said, multiplying every term on both sides of the equation by the LCD.

Our LCD in this case is: (3x + 1)(9x + 3)(6)

I will multiply every term on both sides by the LCD.

5x/(3x + 1) times (3x + 1)(9x + 3)(6) = 5x(9x + 3)(6)

1/(9x + 3) times (3x + 1)(9x + 3)(6) = -(3x + 1) (6)

7/6 times (3x + 1)(9x + 3)(6) = 7(3x + 1) (9x + 3)

Here is what we have now:

5x(9x + 3)(6)-(3x + 1) (6)= 7(3x + 1) (9x + 3)....Notice that the fractions are gone.

Can you finish the question now?

If not, write back.
