Question 130494
Four years ago, Katie was twice as old as Anne was then. In 6 years, Anne will be the same age that Katie is now. How old is each now?
------------
Four yrs. ago DATA:
Let Anne's age be "x" yrs. old : Katie's age was was "2x" yrs.
-------------------
In 6 years DATA: (10 years after 4 years ago)
Anne will be "x+10" yrs old ; Katie will be "2x+10" yrs old.
-------------------
Now DATA: (4 years after 4 years ago)
Anne's age is "x+4" years ; Katie's age is "2x+4" years.
--------------------------------------------
EQUATION:
x+10 = 2x+4
x = 6
----------
NOW Ages:
Anne's age = x+4 = 6+4 = 10 years
Katie's age = 2x+4 = 2*6+4 = 16 years
