Question 130095
Jules works part time at the bulk barn. She mixed one nut type selling at $2.20/kg with another selling at $2.40/kg. If 100kg were mixed and sold for $2.28/kg, how much of each type of nut mixture was used?
-----------------------
2.20 nut DATA:
Let the amt. be "x" ; value is 2.20x dollars
------------------------
2.40 nut DATA:
Let the amt. be "100-x" ; value is 2.4(100-x)= 240-2.4x dollars
-----------------------
Mixture DATA:
Amt o 100 kg ;value = 2.28*100 = 228 dollars
------------------------
EQUATION:
value + value = 228 dollars
2.20x + 240-2.4x = 228
-0.2x = -12
x = 60 (amount of $2.20 nuts in the mixture)
100-x = 40 (amount of $2.40 nuts in the mixture
