Question 114005
Formula {{{l*w=a}}}

If we assign w to the width, then we know that the lenght (l) is equal to 2*w.  So we could write the equation out as such {{{2w*w=24m^2}}}

First simplify {{{2w*w=2w^2}}} to {{{2w^2=24}}} Leave off the m^2 for sake of ease.

Now we must divide both sides by 2 {{{2w^2/2=24/2}}}

Result
{{{w^2=12}}}

Now to further simplify we need to take the square root of each side

Result {{{sqrt(w^2)=sqrt(12)}}}

{{{w=3.464}}}

If we plug this value back in to the formula {{{2w*w=24m^2}}} we will get {{{(2*3.464)*3.464=24}}}
{{{6.928*3.464=24m^2}}}
{{{24=24}}} This is approximate as the decimals are quite long.

Thanks,
