Question 124772
How to graph

5x+2y=-10<br><br>

To be able to graph an equation, you need to know at least two points along the line. In order to find some points, you must first pick a number(prefferably low) for x, plug it into the equation, and solve. So, if I pick 1 for x:
{{{5(1)+2y=-10}}}<br><br>

Multiply:
{{{5+2y=-10}}}<br><br>

Subtract 5 from both sides:
{{{2y=-15}}}<br><br>

Divide both sides by 2:
{{{y=-7.5}}}<br><br>

That gives you an ordered pair of (1,-7.5).<br><br>

To check, plug these values into your equation:
{{{5(1)+2(-7.5)=-10}}}<br><br>

Multiply:
{{{5-15=-10}}}<br><br>

Subtract:
{{{-10=-10}}}<br><br>

To find another point, simply repeat this process. Plot both points on your graph, and then you can draw your line.
