Take the largest denominator, which in this case is 8.  Take multiples of 8 until you find one that is evenly divisible by the other denominators.  In this case, start with multiples of 8, such as 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, etc. and find a number that is divisible by both 4 and 5.  The first (smallest) such number is 40.  Therefore the LCD=40.


This is my own "non-traditional" method.  There are other methods of course, but this one USUALLY works well!
