Question 120993
Question:

The product of 10 and a number is the same as 36 less twice that same number. Finf the number.

Answer:
Plz check yopur question once again, because with the given data you will get a decimal number as answer....)

Solution is ....
Suppose the number is 'x'

The product of 10 and a number is = 10x

Twice that number means 2x

36 less than twice that number= 2x-36.

It is given that....The product of 10 and a number is the same as 36 less twice that same number

So you can write it as,

10x = 2x-36

Subtract 2x from both sides...

==> 10x -2x = 2x-36 -2x

==> 8x = -36

Divide both sides by 8.

==> {{{8x/8 = -36/8}}}

==> {{{x = -4.5}}}

Check:

10 times x = 10*(-4.5) = -45

Twice of x = -4.5*2 = -9

now 36 less that twice the number = -9-36 = -45

That is ......10 times x = 36 less that twice the number,x.

So the required number is -4.5.

Hope you found the explanation useful.
