Question 117329
Perform the indicated operation.

x/x-3  MINUS  2/3

2/p+5  PLUS  3/p+1

Get a common denominator--->3(x-3)

Rewrite the equation

x(3)/3(x-3)  -  2(x-3)/3(x-3)= 3x/3(x-3) - (2x -6)/3(x-3)

Subtract the numerators

(3x-2x+6)/3(x-3)= x+6/3(x-3)

b)2/p+5  PLUS  3/p+1

Get a common denominater --->(p+1)(p+5)

Rewrite the equation
2(p+1)/(p+1)(p+5) + 3(p+5)/(p+1)(p+5) = 2p+2/(p+1)(p+5)  +  3p+15/(p+1)(p+5)

Add the numerators

(2p+2+3p+15)/(p+1)(p+5) = 5p +17/(p+1)(p+5)

Hope that helps.
