This is an age old problwm.

My mum was 27 when i was born. 8 Years ago she was twice as old as i shall be in 5 years, time.
How old am i now

I am NOT 25, as the other person states. 
                 
Let my age, be M
Then my mum is M + 27, since she was 27 when I was born
8 years ago, my mum was M + 27 - 8 = M + 19
In 5 years, I'll be M + 5
"8 Years ago she was twice as old as i shall be in 5 years, time," translates to: M + 19 = 2(M + 5)
                                                                                                                                      M + 19 = 2M + 10
                                                                                                                                       M - 2M = 10 - 19
                                                                                                                                             - M = - 9
