Sarah hikes at 4 kilometers per hour from one end of a trail that is 34 km long. 
Amanda begins 1 hr later at the other end. Walks toward Sarah at 6 k/m. 
How long will it take for them to pass each other

        The solution, the numbers and the answer in the post by @mananth are incorrect.

        I came to bring a correct solution.

The original distance was 34 km, but at the time Ananda started,
the distance between the two girls was just 34-4 = 30 kilometers.


Their approaching rate was  4 + 6 = 10 km/h.


so the time before they met each other was  30/10 = 3 hours,
counting from the moment, when Amanda started her way.
