Question 1205912
60 pupils sold some tickets. Each boy sold 3 tickets and Each girl sold 5 tickets. In the end the boys sold 4 more tickets than the girls. How many more boys than girls were there.

Let number of boys be x and girls be y

x+y=60.........................1

Each boy sold 3 tickets = They sold 3x tickets

 Each girl sold 5 tickets. So they sold 5x tickets

the boys sold 4 more tickets than the girls.

3x -5y=4......................2

x+y=60.........................1
3x -5y=4......................2

Multiply eq 1 by 5 and add to eqn 2

5x+5y=300
3x-5y=4

8x =304

x = 38

x+y=60
38+y=60
y=60-38= 22

So, there were 38 boys and 22 girls.

You could do the rest of it
