Question 1204493
a ferris wheel 24 m in diameter and boardered from a platform that is 1m above ground.
people enter the loading platform which is at 1m. the wheel completes 1 revolution in 10mins.
Use h(t) as height and t as time.
(A) Find the amplitude, median, and period.
(B) Make a cosine equation using h(t) to represent the situation.
(C) For how long during one cycle (period) was the height above 20m.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<pre>
(A)  amplitude = 24/2 = 12 m (the radius of the wheel).
     median is the line y = 13 meters = 12 m + 1 m.  (another name is midline).
     period = 10 minutes.
(B)  Equation is
        h(t) = 13 - {{{12*cos(2pi*(t/10))}}}.
(C)  regarding (C),  see my solution to the "sister"-problem at this link
