Hi,
pyramid has a square base with side lengths of 10 m. The height of the pyramid will be 8 m
*[illustration Pyramid_sm.jpg].

Square Pyramid

V = 1/3 bh
b is the area of the base
Surface Area: Add the area of the base to the sum of the areas of all of the triangular faces.
Square Pyramid
Surface Area= 2*B*S + B^2  (S = Slant Height)
Slant Height = {{{sqrt((B/2)^2 + H^2)}}}
B = 10m   H = 8m
a. How much canvas will be required to cover the walls of the tent?
Surface Area of the sides of the tent = 2*B*S
S = {{{sqrt((5)^2 +64)}}} = 9.434m
Surface Area of the sides of the tent = 2*B*S= 2*10*9.434 = 188.6796m^2

b. If the canvas is sold by the square metre and costs $15.75 per metre squared, how much will it cost to cover the tent
  cost = $15.75*188.6796 = $2971.70
