Question 1195365
.
Hello, again. I hope I’m remembering this question as it appeared on my test.
Two men leave from point A. The first man heads east at a rate of 20mph.
The second man, leaving 30 minutes after the first man, heads south at a rate of 10Mph.
What is their total distance apart after 2hours?
Thanks again!

<pre>
First man traveled 20 mph * 2 hours = 40 miles East.

Second man traveled 10 mph * 1.5 hours = 15 miles South.

To find the distance, use the Pythagoras

    distance = {{{sqrt(40^2 + 15^2)}}} = 42.72 miles.    <U>ANSWER</U>

Solved and thoroughly explained.
