<font face="Times New Roman" size="+2">

If *[tex \Large x\,+\,2] is a factor of the polynomial, then *[tex \Large -2] is a zero of the polynomial. Likewise, *[tex \Large 3] is a zero of the polynomial.

Using Synthetic Division:
<pre>

 3  1  5    a        b
       3   24        a + 24
   -----------------------------
    1  8    a + 24  3a + 72 + b
</pre>

So *[tex \Large 3a\,+\,72\,+\,b\ =\ 0]

Also:
<pre>
-2  1  8   a + 24
      -2     - 12
   ------------------
    1  6   a + 12
</pre>

So *[tex \Large a\,+\,12\ =\ 0\ \Right\ a\ =\ -12]

*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
