Ridiculous.  If BP = x, then BP can only be equal to CQ + x if CQ is zero.


Further, if ABC is an isosceles right triangle with legs that measure 12, the hypotenuse (BC) must measure *[tex \LARGE 12\sqrt{2}] and then *[tex \LARGE PS\ =\ QR\ = 12\sqrt{2}\ -\ 2x]


This whole thing is an unintelligible mess.
