Question 1187686
.
Assume that a recent study revealed that 30% of youths in Luapula province are employed.
A Sample of 8 youths in Luapula province is randomly selected, what is the probability that 3 or more youths are employed?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            It is a binomial distribution problem.
The number of trials is 8;  the number of successful trials is k >= 3 with the indexes k = 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8;
the probability of success for each single individual trial is p = 0.3.
Therefore, the formula to calculate the probability is
     P(n=8; k>=3, p= 0.3) = {{{sum(C[8]^k*0.3^k*(1-0.3)^(8-k), k=3,8)}}}
To facilitate my calculations, I used online calculator at this site  https://stattrek.com/online-calculator/binomial.aspx
It provides nice instructions  and  a convenient input and output for all relevant options/cases.
     The resulting number is P = 0.44822619 = 0.4482 = 44.82%  (rounded).    ANSWER
