English Lesson: "die" is singular, "dice" is plural, "dices" is the present tense third person conjugation of the verb "dice" meaning to cut into small cubes. You should have written: "...throwing two fair dice;"

Math Lesson: There are 36 different results from casting two dice. Of these, 6 and 3, 5 and 4, 4 and 5, 3 and 6 produce a 9. So there are 32 ways out of 36 ways to cast two dice and get something other than a nine, for a probability of 8/9, and there are 4 ways out of 36 ways to cast two dice and obtain a nine; a probability of 1/9. The probability of two independent events is the product of the two individual probabilities, in this case, 8/9 times 1/9 for an overall probability of 8/81.

Reading and Interpretation Lesson: The rules for posting say "one question per post." The term "one question" means each individual part of a multi-part question.
