Question 1180449
Apparently this notation is common in electrical engineering; it is not common in mathematics.
I will use the notation "4 cis pi/2" instead of "4∠π/2" -- it is easier to type....
Use deMoivre's Theorem to simplify this:
If two complex numbers in this form are being multiplied, multiply the coefficients and add the angles
If two complex numbers in this form are being divided, divide the coefficients and subtract the angles
{{{((2cis(pi/4))^4)(3cis(pi/3))/(4cis(pi/2)) = (((2^4)(3))/4)(cis(4(pi/4)+pi/3-pi/2)) = 12 cis(5pi/6) = 12((-sqrt(3)/2)+(1/2)i)=-6sqrt(3)+6i}}}
