Hi
the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line is:
 {{{y = highlight_green(m)x + highlight(b)}}}  where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.
(-5, -3) and
(-3, -8)  m = 5/-2 = (-5/2)

***Using point-slope form, {{{y - y[1] = highlight_green(m)(x - x[1])}}}
 y + 8 = (-5/2)(x + 3)
     y = (-5/2)x - 15/2 - 16/2
     y = (-5/2)x  - 31/2
