Question 1174888
Basic rule of the forum: ONE question per post.
Neither of the problems you posted can be solved with certainty, because poor language is used.
Specifically, the phrases "4 times more than..." in your first problem and "5 times more than..." in your second problem are very probably misused.
Unfortunately, in sloppy everyday usage, "4 times more than" and "4 times as much as" are used to mean the same thing. But, grammatically, "4 times as much as 10" is 4*10 = 40, whereas "4 times more than 10" is 10, plus 4*10, or 10+40=50.
I don't doubt for a moment that these problems are exactly as they were given to you, so it's not your fault....
But, as stated, we don't know what the real information is, so we can't solve the problems.
