In the proportion *[tex \LARGE \ \frac{a}{b}\ =\ \frac{c}{d}], *[tex \LARGE a] and *[tex \LARGE d] are the extremes and *[tex \LARGE b] and *[tex \LARGE c] are the means.  In any proportion, the product of the means is equal to the product of the extremes.  So multiply 5 times 8 and then find two other numbers that multiplied together result in that same product.
