Question 1168078
.

            Too many questions for one post.

            I will answer three questions of the part (a), ONLY.

(i) What is the probability that both {{{highlight(cross(candidate))}}} {{{highlight(candidates)}}} selected are women?

           P = P(1st candidate is woman)*P(2nd candidate is woman) = {{{(5/8)*(4/7)}}} = {{{20/56}}} = {{{5/14}}}.    ANSWER

(ii) What is the probability that at least one candidate selected is a woman?

           It is the COMPLEMENT to the probability that both candidates are men

               P = 1 - {{{(3/8)*(2/7)}}} = 1 - {{{6/56}}} = {{{(56-6)/56}}} = {{{50/56}}} = {{{25/28}}}.                             ANSWER

(iii) What is the probability that second candidate is a woman?

           P = P(1st is M)*P(2nd is W) + P(1st is W)*P(2nd is W) = {{{(3/8)*(5/7) + (5/8)*(4/7)}}} = {{{15/56}}} + {{{20/56}}} = {{{35/56}}} = {{{5/8}}}.    ANSWER

Solved.
