Question 1156849
.
<pre>

The slope of the line in coordinate plane is the ratio of y-increment to x- increment.

It literally represents "the slope" of the line as if it would be "an inclined plane".

If the line is given by an equation of the form

     y = mx + b,

then the slope is the coefficient " m " at the x-term.

if the line is given by an equation

    ax + by = c,

then you first express y from the equation

    y = {{{(c-ax)/b}}} = {{{(-a/b)*x}}} + {{{c/a}}}

and then the slope is THIS NUMBER {{{-a/b)}}}.

y- intercept is the point in y-axis, where the straight line intersects y-axis.
