But, at least in my experience, it takes a lot of practice to see where to go with this kind of problem to get where you want to end up.<br>
Given:
{{{x = s^2+s}}}
{{{y = s^2-s}}}<br>
Look at x+y and x-y:
{{{x+y = 2s^2}}}
{{{x-y = 2s}}}<br>
From here you said you tried squaring both of those.<br>
Try squaring only the second one....<br>
I think you will see where to go after that to get an equation involving only x and y.<br>
