Question 1150778
<br>
---------------------------------------------------
Note you did not ask a question about this, although it is almost certain what the question is.<br>
Many tutors here will justifiably refuse to respond to a post in which the student did not ask a question.<br>
Take the time to be polite and ask your question, instead of leaving it up to the tutors to guess what the question is.
---------------------------------------------------<br>
The mean of 1,2,x,11,y,14 is 8...<br>
"mean" means average:<br>
{{{(1+2+x+11+y+14)/6 = 8}}}
{{{(28+x+y)/6 = 8}}}
{{{28+x+y = 48}}}
{{{x+y = 20}}} [1]<br>
... and the median is 9<br>
The median is "the one in the middle". With 6 numbers, the median is the average of the 3rd and 4th:
{{{(x+11)/2 = 9}}}
{{{x+11 = 18}}} [2]<br>
Solve the pair of equations [1] and [2] using basic algebra....<br>
