Question 106013

if a square pool has a side {{{5m}}}

its area {{{A}}}is : {{{A = (5m)^2}}} which is {{{A = 25m^2}}}

 if it is surrounded by a brick walk {{{2m }}}wide, we need to add this {{{2m}}} to {{{5m}}} and find the area {{{B}}} of square of pool with a brick togeter, which is:

 {{{B = (7m)^2}}}
{{{B = 49m^2}}}

 now we can find out what is the area of the walk if we subtract {{{A}}} from {{{B}}}.

{{{ B - A = 49m^2 - 25m^2}}}
{{{B - A = 24m^2}}}
so, the area of the walk is {{{24m^2}}}
