Question 1149414

Write two different expressions to describe the cost to purchase 3 pairs of shoes and 3 pairs of socks.

let the cost of a pair of shoes be {{{x}}} and the cost of a pair of socks {{{y}}}

first expressions:
the cost to purchase 3 pairs of shoes  is {{{3x}}}
and 3 pairs of socks is {{{3y}}}

if the cost of a pair of shoes is {{{10}}} times the cost of a pair of socks plus ${{{2}}}, we have

{{{x=10y+2}}}, so

second expressions:

3 pairs of shoes  is {{{3(10y+2)}}} or {{{30y+6}}}
and 3 pairs of socks is {{{3y}}}
