Question 104783
Your teacher is giveing you a test worth 100 points conataining 40 questions. Therere are two-point and four-point questions on the test. how many of each are on the test?
Since there are 40 questions, our first equation would be;
x+y=40
Now since they are worth 100 points total;
2x+4y=100
========================
So our 2 equations would be;
x+y=40
2x+4y=100
Now lets solve by substitution;
x=40-y
2(40-y)+4y=100
80-2y+4y=100
2y=20
y=10
==============
x+10=40
x=30
==================
So we have 2 point questions = 30
4 point questions = 10
