Question 1133281

first recall that linear equation is of the form {{{y=ax}}}

in your case, {{{y}}} represents the number of chickens in each area, {{{x}}} represents the number of areas, coefficient {{{a}}} shows how many areas are there

since you are given that {{{y=1500}}} and {{{a=6}}}, your equation is

{{{1500=6x}}} or

{{{6x=1500}}}.......Solve the equation for {{{x}}}

{{{x=1500/6}}}

{{{x=250}}}

------------------------------------

if book states this: Let {{{x }}}= the number of chickens in each area;=> means "Define a variable"

{{{6x = 1500}}};=> given equation needed

{{{x = 250 }}}=> given result

they just skipped the another steps which I did in solution above
