Question 1132365
.
<pre>

Let x be the amount of the Php80 chocolate in the mix (in kilograms).

Then the amount of the Php60 chocolate in the mix is the rest (24-x) kilograms.

The total cost of the mix then is 80x + 60*(24-x).

Per kilogram, the price of the mix is {{{(80x + 60*(24-x))/24}}}.

We want this price would be Php72.50 .

It gives you an equation

    {{{(80x + 60*(24-x))/24}}} = 72.50.

To solve it, multiply both sides by 24 and then simplify step by step

    80x + 60*(24-x) = 24*72.50

    80x + 60*24 - 60x = 24*72.50

    20x = 24*7250 - 24*60

    x = {{{(24*72.50 - 24*60)/20}}} = one click in Excel = 15.

<U>Answer</U>.  15 kilograms of the  Php80 chocolate and  24-15 = 9 kilograms of the Php60 chocolate.

<U>CHECK</U>.  {{{(15*80 + 9*60)/24}}} = 72.50 Php.    ! Precisely correct !
