Question 101851
The probability that the Mustang starts in 0.8, and the probablity the Ranger starts is .4. The probability that both cars start is 0.3. Let A represent the event "The Mustang starts, and B represent "The Ranger Starts".
--------------------------------------

b. What is the probability that Mr Myer cannot start either of his cars?
P(A')= 0.2
P(B')= 0.6
The events are independent, so
P(A' and B') = 0.2*0.6= 0.12
--------------------------
a. What is the probability that Mr Myer can start at least one of his cars?
P(A or B) = 1- P (A' and B') = 1-0.12 = 0.88

Comment: I solved part b 1st because it makes solving part a easier.
