Question 1124101
a motorist travelled 1/3 of his journey 80km per hour for 4.5 hours. For the rest of the journey he took another 8 hours. On his return journey he took 12 hours to get home.

what was the distance of the whole journey.
d = distance of journey one-way
d/3 = 80*4.5 = 360 km
d = 1080 km
-------------------
What was his average speed on the return journey.
Return speed = 1080 km/12 hr = 90 km/hr

for the first part, I calculated the distance as follows:1/3x =80x4.5
x = 1080 km

for part two my calculation was 1080km ÷12=90km per hour.

is this correct.
Correct.
