I agree with the other two tutors that your presentation of the problem is extremely poor.<br>
To start with, a and A, or x and X, can mean different things in the same problem.  Don't mix lower and upper case letters when talking about the same thing.<br>
Then your statement of the problem doesn't say that ABCD (not "a b c d") is a rectangle.  The topic you chose for presenting your problem was "Rectangles", so I will assume it is; but your statement of the problem should say so.<br>
So then we know that, since opposite sides of a rectangle have the same length,<br>
2y+1 = 7x-3<br>
and<br>
y+1 = 3x<br>
Then the problem tells us to find the values of x and y (not "X and Y").<br>
But here we run into another difficulty with the problem as you present it: the values of x and y turn out to be negative numbers, which makes no sense for the dimensions of a rectangle.<br>
