There are innumerable ways you could solve this problem; you probably want some sort of diagram to help you see the path to the answer.<br>
Here is one suggestion....<br>
Use a number line; let A=0 on the number line.  Then to make AB:BC = 2:1, let B be 2 and C be 3.  Then AB=2 and BC=1, so AB:BC = 2:1, as required.<br>
Now place D on AB so that AD:DB = 3:2.  That makes AD 3/5 of AB and DB 2/5 of AB.  What number is point D, knowing that AB=2 and AD is 3/5 of AB?<br>
Now use the coordinates of the points on the number line to determine the ratio AD:DC.
