Question 1108782
As I understand this, not totally sure this is right
:
 The total amount of money that jim nancy and colin had was $310.
j + n + c = 310
 Nancy had 3/5 of the amount jim had.
n = .6j
 Jim gave 2/5 of his money to nancy.
.4j + n = n's amt then
replace n with .6j
.4j + .6j = j is amt n has now and .6j is amt j has now
.
 Then she gave half of the amount she had to colin.
.5j remains with n and .5j + c = colin's amt
:
 If colin has 4 times as much money as nancy now,
.5j + c = 4(.5j)
c = 2j - .5j
c = 1.5j
 how much did jim have at first.
Replace c with 1.5j and .6j for n in the first equation
j + .6j + 1.5j = 310
3.1j = 310
j = $100 amt Jim had a first

Please let me know if I am right in this. ankor@att.net
