Donna has $15 to spend on the trail mix. Determine how many pounds of trail mix she can make. ( have an algebraic solution)

almonds, walnuts, and raisins.

Let quantity of trail mix she can make be x

1/12 part of x is almonds @ $12 per pound
2/12 part of x is walnuts @ $9 per pound
3/12 part of x is raisins  @ $ 5 per pound

Cost of all three is $15

12(x/12) +9( x/6) +5( x/4) = 15

x+ 3x/2 + 5x/4 = 15
LCM
4x+6x+5x= 60
15x = 60
x =4

4 pounds of trail mix can be made by her
