Question 1106959
TWO DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS OF ALCOHOL WITH RESPECTIVE PROPORTIONS OF WATER TO ALCOHOL OF 3:1 AND 3:2 WERE COMBINED .WHAT IS THE CONCENTRATION OF ALCOHOL IN THE NEW SOLUTION SOLUTION IF THE ORIGINAL SOLUTIONS WERE MIXED IN EQUAL AMOUNT
-----
3:1 means 1/4 alcohol or 25% alcohol
-----
3/2 means 2/5 alcohol or 40% alcohol
------------------------
Let "a" be the amt of each liquid.
-------
Alcohol Eq:: 0.25a + 0.40a = (x/100)(2a)
25a + 40a = x(2a)
65a = 2xa
2x = 65
x = 32.5% alcohol in the new solution
